QUORiON Announces Release of New Fiscal Cash Register Series

August 5, 2011

After the successful release of the low cost CR20 last year, QUORiON plans to add another fiscal cash register to its line-up this summer – the QMP50 series.  Fiscal cash registers come with a fiscal memory chip that stores all the sales information, which many countries log to enforce taxes.  This data is tamper proof. The QMP50 stores up to 2000 Z-Reports, each containing daily sales totals.

Much like the CR20 the QMP50 relies on a 32-bit architecture, but in addition offers graphical LCD displays, USB programming via PC, and a new external power supply implementation.  “We have received and evaluated much customer feedback over the past year and wanted to hone in on some of the more specific fiscal cash register attributes we often see as requirements in fiscal laws,” Mrs. Cordula Rehfeldt, Director of Sales, explains.  “Most of the time business owners purchase a low end fiscal cash register just to satisfy their country’s fiscal law.  These cash registers typically provide little added value to store operations.  This is something we wanted to change.  Our objective was to deliver a solution that satisfies both sides of the coin,” Mrs. Rehfeldt adds.  A closer look at the hardware reveals that the QMP50 will offer most of the functionality that traditional cash registers provide, but without the added cost.  “Simple operation and cashing functions are the main features store owners demand.  USB programming with QProg reduces management time, whereas the new external power supply provides enough juice to power 5V accessories and peripheral devices such as scanners straight from the cash register interface,” Mr. Matthias Hesse, Product Manager, asserts.  A closer look at some of the other fiscal cash registers out there confirms that many appear to lack this functionality.

The company will also offer the QMP50 series in non-fiscal countries.  According to Mrs. Rehfeldt, the QMP50 should do well in the low end segment, because it comes with more features than one commonly encounters there.

Moreover, existing QUORiON customers will undoubtedly be glad to hear that the QMP software will be part of the QMP50 offer.  “As was the case with the CR20, we want to ensure a smooth transition between product lines.  Customers will already be familiar with the software,” Mr. Hesse clarifies.

Store owners in fiscal countries will certainly welcome this news, because it will allow them to satisfy their country’s fiscal laws as well as make improvements to their store operations.

QUORiON’s Swedish Distributor Reacts to False Accusations by Competition Regarding the Boxen Control Unit

March 23, 2010

Eskilstuna, Sweden, 2010-03-23:  Cashpoint AB, QUORiON’s cash register distributor in Sweden, reacts to false claims by the competition concerning the Boxen control unit.  As the Boxen reputation grows, competitors and manufacturers, struggling to gain a foot hold in the Swedish fiscal cash register market, resort to desperate slander tactics.  Cashpoint AB sets the record straight and cites QUORiON’s excellent track record in fiscal cash register implementation.

“Cashpoint AB since December 2009 sold approximately 4000 units of the control unit called Boxen.  It’s a type C unit and is manufactured by QUORiON Data Systems GmbH.  Boxen was certified as the first C type unit 2009-09-15 (note 1, image below), and the first unit to be certified according to the “Standpoints by the Tax Agency – Handling of receipt data in a control unit, especially regarding return receipts and counters B,F,G, and H, case no 131 808278-09/111, Dated 2009-11-03” (note 2, image below).

The performance of the BOXEN has so far been outstanding, and the interface to QUORiON cash register’s has been working without any problems.

We have been working together with the Swedish tax Agency and have had training courses with their inspectors on how to do field controls.  Our service department has also been serving as sounding boards for the Tax Agency regarding the new cash register law.

To sum up, QUORiON has been an excellent partner for us in the process to get certified products on the Swedish market.  It is also clear to us that QUORiON has a great knowledge about fiscal cash registers.”

QUORiON Boxen Achieves Certification for Swedish Cash Register Legislation

December 14, 2009

The Swedish cash register legislation becomes effective 1 January 2010.  It stipulates that anyone who sells goods and services in return for cash payments must have a certified cash register.  This rule is the result of legislation that the Swedish Parliament enacted (2007:592).  The purpose is to protect serious business owners, who conduct cash transactions against unfair competition.

To enforce the new legislation every POS system manufacturer who wants to sell in Sweden will have to become certified by the Swedish tax authority.  Certification of control units and POS systems is carried out by companies that are accredited by the board of
Accreditation and Conformity Assessment (SWEDAC).

After a long trial of tests and security documentation, QUORiON achieved certification for its Boxen control units.  The Boxen will serve as a fiscal storage device, which will store all transaction data generated by a cash register or POS system.  The Swedish tax authorities can then collect and analyze this data as well as levy the appropriate taxes for the business.  “The Boxen control unit is ideal for this scenario, because business owners can connect their existing cash register or POS system.  This way there is no need to replace their entire POS infrastructure”, Frank Grueschow, QUORiON CEO, explains.

QUORiON is a German cash register manufacturer, who specializes in fiscal law implementations.  Over the past decade the company has been selling its cash registers and POS systems worldwide in nearly 70 countries.

QUORiON to Attend GITEX 2009 FAIR

September 9, 2009

The fall is approaching rapidly and the QUORiON team once again prepares to attend the GITEX Fair.  Looking back at the 2008 trade show in the Middle East Mr. Sturm, QUORiON’s Export Manager, joyfully recounts many of the positive experiences. “We have had a number of positive receptions towards our products and made interesting new contacts last year.  For us it was an easy decision to attend the GITEX once more.” Mr. Sturm and company will present the latest in QUORiON POS systems. “This time, though, we will demonstrate how clients can specifically use our POS systems for specific business applications such as retail stores and restaurants. We will clearly illustrate how our software functions support business owners in their daily tasks”, Mr. Sturm explains.

Undoubtedly, the QUORiON team’s objective will be to cultivate new contacts in the Middle East as well as update existing clients on the latest software features and product news. This year’s highlight will be the new QMP 5000 cash registers with their embedded 32-bit processing power. “I am particularly excited about introducing the new QMP 5000 models to our clients there, because it represents the most cost effective POS solution in the market today”, Mr. Sturm adds. “Many of the features you see as options with the competition are already included in the QMP 5000. It comes fully equipped with a fast processor, high-speed printer, and all the interfaces you need to connect the next generation of devices.  Even the POS software is included at no additional cost to our clients.”

In addition, QUORiON will showcase its new CR20 cash register series.  The latest addition to the QUORiON product line represents the answer to today’s stringent economic environment, where price plays an ever more increasing role.

QUORiON – Experts in Fiscal Cash Register Production

June 2, 2009

Fiscal Laws and Cash Registers

Quite often government legislation leads to laws requiring the replacement of all cash registers in the country. Naturally, such political events represent a prized business opportunity for many cash register manufacturers. Companies such as QUORiON out of Erfurt, Germany, have made a continuing business out of fiscal legislation. As Cordula Rehfeldt, Director of Customer Care, explains, ”Our company is in the unique position to fulfill the needs of clients in fiscal markets, since we already implement a customer centric approach. We address every partner’s unique needs, a skill which we can easily extend to fiscal countries, because the governments require all cash registers to fulfill strict standards of their law. Many countries have very different ideas on how to accomplish fiscalization. As a result, manufacturers who can deliver flexible solutions quickly are in demand. This usually involves modifications to hardware and software, before a country will allow the sale of cash registers.”

QUORiON has indeed established a respectable record, when it comes to implementing fiscal systems. Their fiscal cash register lines such as the CR30 and CR 1000 have found acceptance in nearly 15 countries ranging from Argentina to Venezuela. In 2008 the company added a fiscal printer to its product offering, which will allow users to also use the QTOUCH and CONCERTO touch screen POS systems in fiscal countries. Moreover, the fiscal printer serves those clients, who already have a POS system in place and nevertheless still wish to accommodate fiscal laws without having to reinvest in hardware.

Many countries struggle every year to collect enough taxes to pay for ever increasing expenses. Especially in Europe, where social programs and an increasingly aging population place heavy burdens on national budgets. “ We are of course hopeful that the European Union will one day implement its own fiscal legislation covering the entire Union.”, Frank Grueschow, President exerts. Such endeavors would certainly be a-dream-come true for many European producers.
